OMBLD

So the Inaugural OMBLD(Official Monthly Barbecue Lovers Delegation) dinner kicked off at "Bone Lick Park", and we only stared there because everyone liked the name. the goal of the OMBLD is to determine the best overall BBQ establishment in the 5 boroughs. so far, so good. We are are now looking for sponsorship (at least I am) -- or publicity. Whichever- I am not picky.

Here are the stats:

HOT

You would never in a million years think that I was single. But I am. Shocking.

New recipe:

2 graham crackers
4 squares of chocolate (cadbury preferred)
2 peeps

center 2 squares of chocolate on 2 of the 4 2-cracker sections of graham crackers.
place these chocolate side up in the toaster oven for about a minute on medium heat.

on remaining 2 graham crackers - center one peep on each. place these peep side up in microwave - cook on high for 12 seconds.

smoosh the chocolate graham with the peep graham and - voila -- a peep s'more. yum!

crawling home.

All I can say about the FALICBC is this: fork lift

It has been determined that LIC is one of the best neighborhoods for crawling...except for the Irish pub McReiley's -- what's up with that??? They heard us coming and locked the door. Seriously. Technically everyone got stamps by default but WTF? I wish I could post pictures but I left the camera at home. nice. but I will post the pics we got from the photo booth at LIC bar. God bless that place. The #1 bar in LIC(k). Yay!

Ides of March

Despite the fact that the glass half empty looks like pee, I love these icons. I also love: the new Andrew Bird album (the show is already sold out), lala.com (i just sent my first trades today) and the color of wine. Yay!

Oh man -- this is so great-- trading CDs online on lala.com. You trade for $1.00 (I think) I just signed up . I noticed that woxy.com had them posted -- (I also noticed that I think woxy has gotten more commercial. what up with that!?!

Personally your ID mark...

Here's the comp for the new Personally Yours logo-- I really don't know if I have just been looking at it too long or if I am just tired but I really like it and want to use it even if it is not approved. I hate getting attached to work. It makes it so much harder to make changes... and there are always changes. God bless the client. They pay the bills :-)

the interweb is a small world.

Look what I found:

I just have to say that either the art world is small or there are still not enough people on the internet. I was surfing some illustrator's site and found this picture and thought "that looks an awful lot like cary" then i pulled it to my desktop to send to him and the file name was "cary1.jpg" eerie. I made up this whole scenario in my head of how she got a picture of my brother - but I found out that he knows the illustrator and asked her to draw him. point being: the world is cyclical.

The waiting begins...

I officially applied to grad school yesterday and now the waiting begins...

in the meantime - here are a couple of blogworthy links:
http://www.iconbuffet.com/ -- trade icons-- cool... everyone's doing it

http://www.firewheeldesign.com/widgets/
if you ever needed a cool (or warm) color palette this widget is it!

Oh and here a link to another design blog that I have found myself reading everyday:
(design geek alert)
http://beadesigngroup.com/

Which leads me to this other discovery of the latest issue of creative review... brilliant! Oh man - executed well but the concept, oh the concept was spot on!

No wonder I have a headache everyday when I come to work...
http://www.flickr.com/photos/ironicsans/sets/72157594496838152/

If I told you how much I found out they pay for the ads here you would pee your pants. Some companies spend a large majority of their advert budget... all to get lost in the crowd. hmm

This is the best though:

I am in love with this guy's blog: ironicsans.com (so design-geeky, how could you not)
