Welcome to 2011. We're back to keep tabs on trends and resources in all things creative.
We're also starting a new series for creative professionals - tips and tricks to earn business and respect from the people that pay you. It's exciting as it has been brewing in the studio for almost a year now. Don't think anymore, it's time to share and collaborate. Yeah!
The topics will cover business-thinking, timeline planning, proposal writing, project analysis, suit-speak, presentation crafting, resume preparation... You know, the stuff no one talks about in art school. Learn it on the job or get it here. I know it sounds boring and uninspiring but every creative professional needs an edge and we'll try to make it inspiring and engaging as well. Whether you want your own studio, or want to make change in the corporate game keep reading, collaborating and sharing. Think about this, creative people are natural problem solvers and in this climate what business doesn't need problem solving. As recent as this month's O magazine notes that creatives will be in demand: " Cultural trend spotters like Daniel Pink have argued that it will be the creative, not the meek, who will inherit the earth - at least in the coming decades - as flexibility, innovation, and aesthetic flair become the go-to traits in business and politics." Good news, for all of us.
